David,

Sounds like you had a good time. Thanks for the helpful tips. I'll be
sure to take a clothes line. What's with all the prisons in PA?

I am a little anxious about climbing over the mountains. I plan on
taking them at my own pace. Hopefully the gearing on my touring bike
will be a big help although that bike is going to be much heavier than
those who will be riding their road bikes.

Debbie

I got back from my Pa tour on Sunday. (called the Wally Tour)
It was pouring rain the last day so I bailed and had Cynthia pick me up
in Shartlesville. I was only caught in one other full day of
rain...from Renovo to New Colombia. We went west up the Juniata valley
and came East along the West Branch of the Sussquehanna. So I was not
able to scout out the Pine Creek gourge and valley as Mike had asked me
to do. We averaged 75 miles a day (9 days) and did a bunch of climbing.
Passed thru Suedville, Weedville, and the Bennett Valley. I was on my
new touring bike and rode most of the route alone because I could not
climb with the others on their racers. (we had good cue sheets) It was
fantastic...(my third trip across the State). This year we went by many
prisons. Had some excellent waitresses.
(Waitresses are the backbone of America)

Make sure you have: a length of nylon string for clothesline,
all your clothes packed in one gallon ziplocks, A rain jacket with a
hood, maps....What with the flooding, you might call Penndot and make
sure the roads along the river and creek valleys are open..(Pine Creek
Valley) Cell phones may not work in many of the valleys.

Bike touring is the best way to spend a vacation and Pa is
gorgeous.

	Enjoy,

	D'stre`

ps/ Trivia question. "What was the forerunner of the Toyota
Four Runner?"
