I'm definitely taking my touring bike. Glad to hear that Charlie will
be using his touring bike too. This way he'll only be 5 miles ahead of
me instead of 10! I look forward to doing a tour with you in August.

Deb

	Debbie,

I realized I should have also addressed my greeting to Cheryl.
Pa. probably has the most beautiful and diverse archetecture of historic
prison design in the world.

I found that, as I already knew, the easiest mount to use in
climbing is a racing bike. The advantage of a touring bike is that it
is more comfortable. I had no cramps, bad saddle problems, sore knees,
or stiff necks, because I was able to enjoy the excellent shock
absorption of 35 C tires. Choose your poison. For me, I plan to tour
on my touring bike. (Charlie said he's riding a touring bike on your
tour) I still want to do a three or four day camping trip from home to
French Creek State Park in August.

		David,

Sounds like you had a good time. Thanks for the helpful
tips. I'll be sure to take a clothes line. What's with all the
prisons in PA?

I am a little anxious about climbing over the mountains.
I plan on taking them at my own pace. Hopefully the gearing on my
touring bike will be a big help although that bike is going to be much
heavier than those who will be riding their road bikes.

Doug, Mike, Charlie, Debbie, Nancy, Dave, Len?,
more?,

I got back from my Pa tour on Sunday. (called
the Wally Tour) It was pouring rain the last day so I bailed and had
Cynthia pick me up in Shartlesville. I was only caught in one other
full day of rain...from Renovo to New Colombia. We went west up the
Juniata valley and came East along the West Branch of the Sussquehanna.
So I was not able to scout out the Pine Creek gourge and valley as Mike
had asked me to do. We averaged 75 miles a day (9 days) and did a bunch
of climbing. Passed thru Suedville, Weedville, and the Bennett Valley.
I was on my new touring bike and rode most of the route alone because I
could not climb with the others on their racers. (we had good cue
sheets) It was fantastic...(my third trip across the State). This year
we went by many prisons. Had some excellent waitresses.
(Waitresses are the backbone of America)

Make sure you have: a length of nylon string for
clothesline, all your clothes packed in one gallon ziplocks, A rain
jacket with a hood, maps....What with the flooding, you might call
Penndot and make sure the roads along the river and creek valleys are
open..(Pine Creek Valley) Cell phones may not work in many of the
valleys.

Bike touring is the best way to spend a vacation
and Pa is gorgeous.

			Enjoy,

			D'stre`

ps/ Trivia question. "What was the forerunner
of the Toyota Four Runner?"
