To reply to Ed Sobolewski, I'd been wanting to write in and tell about last week's Jersey century but couldn't comment until I'd reviewed the videotapes. It has now been confirmed that we had a successful century. Four riders (Bonnie, Len, Nick and John) completed a metric and seven (Drew, Don Taney, Charlie, Larry, Woody, Dave Hartrum and I) logged a hundred miles. I'd have to check my diary to be sure but I think we averaged 20 or 25.
If possible, today's Lancaster County ride, with eleven in attendance, was even better. The weather was perfect including (are you ready for this?) a tailwind in BOTH directions. We totaled about 59 miles.
Except for Ed Sobolewski. He pedaled 31 miles to get to my house before the start, then fanned off for home as we headed for Shirk's Bike Shop. He no doubt piled up something well over a hundred miles.
Other participants today were: President Dom (please remain seated), Doug, Drew, Charlie, Don Taney, Nancy Schwarz, Kathleen Stayton, Rob Young, and Eric Valencia.
We concluded that Doug is at a distinct disadvantage because he expends about 70% of his energy talking. leaving, if I calculate correctly, only 30% for pedaling.

From Ed Sobolewski:
I was just wondering how was the first "official" 100-mile ride in NJ this passed Saturday (4/29); strangely nobody said a word about it. I could not go on that ride, but went on Wayne's Sunday ride instead. If any of you "flat-landers" wonder how does the profile of a 100 mile ride with 9273 ft of vertical climbing look like, see attached.
