Peter,
Road most of SCU's Quad County tour yesterday with Arnie Roseman who
had his Garmin GPS mounted on his aerobars. Set to sample q 20 seconds I
believe. Worked perfectly: mileage, average speed, max speed, total
climb, max altitude, id'ing route [he had to load road map info into the
unit]. He tells me printing out all of a ride can go to 16 pages but he
can edit out the no distance events, i.e.when stopped to slightly reduce
the printout. Arnie's home # 610-640-4529...I'm sure he'll share his
recent experience with the unit with you.

Dear DVBC-ers:
Anyone out there have one of the new Garvin Edge 205 or 305 GPS
devices? I hear the satellite link is
now much more reliable with tree cover on roads: true? Am also
interested to hear from club members
how well the other functions work, especially the altitude/total
climbing function, the ability to track a
current ride against a previous one, etc.

The Garvins seem to get the best reviews out their in Net-land, and are
now supposed to work with
Macs as well, which is nice; I hear they got the bugs out on the Garvin
version for all the Mac-
wannabees out there, then, once it was perfected, released the version
for the real thing :-) .

If others have rival GPS's that they really like for biking, I'd like
to hear about these via the list-serv too.

Best wishes,

Peter Schmidt
