[DVBC] Eichele Hill ride

Burned clutches are related to the way climbs are categorized in the Tour de
France. Back when all motor vehicles were manual transmission, the rating
represented the maximum recommended gear in which you should drive up the
climb. Current ratings are complicated by where in a Tour stage the climb
occurs. The same climb might be a Cat 1 if it occurs early in the stage and
HC (above category) if it comes late in the stage following several other
major climbs.

Hey Bob, the whole way up I could hear your truck right behind us.
It was the fear of you running me over that kept me moving forward to the
top.
Also the fact that I knew you had the video camera rolling and I certainly
didn't
want to get caught on the video giving up was added motivation.
So thanks for being out there.

How did the video turn out?
If it is like photos I have taken on ski slopes the steepest of the hill
does not
come out as well in pictures.

Do we owe you some money for a new clutch or was yours OK after it had a
chance
  to cool down?

    Dave--
How do you know how the others got to the top? You and Mike Keating were
so far ahead you were fully recovered when the peloton crested the mountain.
In fact you two almost reeled in two other riders who had a head start of
several minutes.
Nancy made climbing look easy with her new 30 x 32 gear.
I was pleasantly surprised not only by the challenging hill but also the
beautiful scenery in the general area of Eichele.
And thanks to Doug Bower who planned such a nice outing for his guests
after feeding them an outstanding pancake-and-sausage breakfast.
