[DVBC] overseas bike transport

I bought a hard case last year before going to Colorado and France. I'm not
sure if you can rent one at your LBS.

Note that European airlines generally do not charge for the oversize (and if
a hard case, often overweight) piece but treat it as one of your checked
baggage allowances. US airlines generally do charge. I paid $85 (up from $80
last year) each way to Denver on United. Last year on Air France I paid
nothing. This year I paid $70 on US Air to Barcelona and nothing on the
return flight.

  I have a friend who is going to Germany and taking his bike. Does anybody
have a hard case they would rent?
  (Mike, what did you do?)
