Dave,
I had to read your E-mail twice to make sure I didn't write it. :-)

Well they need a mechanism to collect revenue to pay the salaries of the
idiots that come up with this crap. One thing this country needs
less of is career politicians and lawyers.

As of this Friday, it'll be more than just a good idea to move over
while driving past an emergency scene or a police stop; it'll be the law
in Pennsylvania.
It's being dubbed the "Steer Clear" law. As of Friday, Pennsylvania
motorists will be required to move into a non-adjacent lane of traffic
when approaching an accident or fire scene, a police stop, or a
tow-truck tending to a disabled vehicle.
If you can't move into another lane, you'll at least be required to slow
down to a "careful and prudent reduced speed." PennDOT spokesman Rich
Kirkpatrick:
"The idea is when you're driving along, and you see something happening
in front of you -- either it's a police car that has someone pulled over
or a tow truck with flashing lights -- this law is dictating what in
some respects would be common sense."
And now, failing to react with common sense could result in a $250 fine.
If serious injury results from failure to comply, there's also a 90-day
license suspension.
