Hi Group,
A crisp morning saw 7 riders (Jon, Maureen, and newcomers Seth, Matt,
Carlos, David and Benjamin) depart for our now-standard 40 mile tour through
the hill country straddling the border of Chester and Delaware Counties. A
few dropped chains and unscheduled bathroom breaks may have given us brief
pause, but everyone was happy to get out on such a nice morning with no
clouds and very few cars in evidence.
There were no major mishaps, although, one rider had an unscheduled solo
detour (i.e., missed a turn) but rejoined without incident only five minutes
later. My fault for not minding the flock assiduously enough. Everyone felt
good for the whole ride, and by the end it was perfectly warm and sunny but
not too hot. (Luckily, no DVBC riders ever sweat, so heat wouldn't be a
concern anyway.) Coffee and muffins provided our warm-down at 320 Market,
where several new people decided to either join the club soon and/or do the
Brandywine Tour!
Thanks to everyone who came out. This ride will continue until it's too cold
or too dark at 7 AM. At which time we'll just do it a little later in the
day. If anyone wants to suggest a slight lengthening of the ride in
preparation for the upcoming Brandywine Tour, just send me a note. We can
tack on miles (and hills) at the beginning, middle, or end.
See you on the roads,
Jon D.
