Rich & Marji,
I guess you didn't see us since you guys started way before us and you
were flying. I agree that there were a lot of dangerous riders out
there. Some were going way too fast around bends and passing the slower
inexperienced riders. We also saw many slower riders taking up the
entire rode side by side chatting and not paying attention to much. We
still had fun though.
As an fyi, Doug Bower got a new tandem last week.
See you on Saturday.
Debbie

Glad to hear that there were some DVBC folks out there. Marji
and I spent the weekend in Laqncaster with our Tandem Club (Doubles of
the Garden State - www.d-o-g-s.org). Altogether 32 teams, most sporting
the DOGS outfit. Stayed at the Hampton Inn about 1/4 mile from ride
registration. Had a dangerous ride Friday afternoon. Rain was bad
enough, but the lightning was frightful. Beautiful, sunny 38 mile ride
on Saturday. Awoke Sunday at 5:30 to heavy overcast. Contemplated
doing the half, but after breakfast and bike set-up decided to do the
full century. We split into an A and B group. We started at 7:45 with
the A group, but after 20 miles at 27+MPH fell off on a stiff uphill -
they were all half out age anyway ;-). We agree that the one food stop
was pretty lame. But you have to consider that they typically get over
3000 riders. Can't imagine wh! at we w ould do if that many riders
showed at our rides.

Didn't see any DVBC jerseys. Did see a lot of dangerous riders,
all in Pink Floyd jerseys - maybe they were all tripping? Must have
been, the way that they swerved in and out of our tandem paceline,
cutting through corners on the inside, almost pushing us off of the
road. Saw a lot of Shirks jerseys too. Does he sell tandems too? We
are looking to get a new, lighter, tandem next year.

We finished at 11, as the first raindrops were beginning to
fall. 3 hours in the saddle and an average speed of 21 MPH. Pretty
good given the rolling to hilly route.

We'll be back next year for sure - Maybe with the DOGs, maybe
with DVBC is we can get a group together.

Hope to see a lot of you out this Sat to help mark the
Brandywine course.

Regards - Rich and Marji Andreas
