Info on today's MSN program:
---Lance Armstrong's cancer forums for U.S. presidential candidates
will be co-hosted by Chris Matthews and broadcast live from Iowa on the
MSNBC cable network. Democrats are expected on Aug. 27 and Republicans
on Aug. 28. Lance's goal is to get the candidates' views on cancer
research and funding on the record before 2008 voting begins. "I think
whoever wants to be commander in chief ought to answer the cancer
question," he says. "This is a damn war for me. I had the disease and I
hate it, and I hate that we haven't made enough progress against it."
The forums are scheduled for 11a.m. to 1 p.m. ET. Check your local
listings.

It was a great ride. I agree with Debbie, it was the best supported
ride I have done. The route was well marked (I don't think you could
have gotten lost if you tried!), SAG vehicles everywhere, many foods
stops, incredibly enthusiastic volunteers cheering you at each stop and
many points along the way. And it is a great cause. The disease
affects everyone and is indiscriminate. Research and support for those
in the battle needs to be better.

I am really thankful that Debbie came out for the ride. I had started a
work team and ended up being a one-person team! All those who had
expressed interest initially, never joined up! I regret that I didn't
talk it up more with the DVBC riders. I talked about it some, but not
nearly enough. That will change!!! I'll be doing a new team for next
year and will share details as soon as I have them.

If anyone interested & can watch TV this morning, the foundation is
doing a forum with presidential candidates today to talk about how
cancer research and support will fit into their platform. I think there
was a webcast and maybe on MSNBC? Maybe Deb remembers the specifics.

Maureen
