Just a cautionary note - one of our martial arts guys - Miles - rides his bike as a method of transportation throughout the city, even out here (Silver Spring).

He was targeted and mugged and brutally beaten up by some guys who tried to steal his bike. Apparently some of the gangs are targeting bicyclists in hopes they are carrying laptops, money, ipods and other stuff. The police were less than helpful and Miles has been threatened by other gang members.

Miles is a triple black belt martial arts in karate, judo and jujitsu. He dispatched 4 of the first 5 guys but then 3 more came in. He fought them off and only lost his backback and ipod.

But the word out is that bicyclists are being targeted by these roving gangs in the city and I wanted to warn you and ask you to please stay safe.
