[DVBC] easiest MTB pedals?

hey all,

my son is getting a new road bike, and is interested in clipless pedals.
he's decided that MTB-style shoes would be the best for him, what
with ease of walking around and all, so for pedals that means usually
2-hole SPD-style cleats.

so i wanted to ask the group about which pedals are the easiest to clip
in and out of. i was looking at some pedals on-line, and there are
some crank brothers pedals that look like they have a large platform,
which might be useful if evan wants to take a spin with regular shoes,
but i have no experience with clipping in and out, and i don't know
anybody who uses them.

what about speedplay frogs? i think i have seen a few of them on DVBC
bikes.

any other suggestions? the main criterion is ease of clipping in and
out. the second one would be ease of use with regular shoes. i have
worn street shoes with my look pedals before and it's do-able, but they
have a bigger area than some of these MTB pedals.

thanks in advance for your time and advice,

-eric
