Eric,
I listened to Doug praise Frogs then got some on my then new touring
bike. I like that they are 2 sided after getting frustated everytime I
started up with Campy one sided clips. Now have Frogs on road and
trainers and the bike I keep in FL. I use Sidi road shoes for the road
bike but use touring shoes for the touring bike and trainer...the cleats
are recessed as Doug explained so walking is essentially normal. Frogs
claim to have the widest "float" that is supposed to be good for folks
with knee problems. It is important that the cleats be installed
properly to align the shoe/cleat. Harry Havnoonian at CycleSport does a
great job. Frogs come with chrome moly, stainless steel or titanium
spindles with prices to match.
As Deb states the small footprint would make riding without cleats
problematic.
I like that they are a "clean" design with nothing that needs adjusting
after the initial setup, unlike the SPDs that were my first introduction
to clips. EZ to lube.

deb,

he has an MTB for horsing around on, and he wants to try clipless
pedals
on his new road bike.

the question about riding with street shoes was pretty much an
after-thought. the most important thing is the ease of getting in and

out.

so far, i have heard good things about frogs. anybody else have
suggestions on other pedals?

thanks,

-eric
