[DVBC] easiest MTB pedals?

I have Campus Clips on my Mountian Bike as I tend to ride itaround town more
than anywhere else.

I like the versatility.  They use SPD cleats so they are a durable system
but maybe not the best is you compared to a cleat only set up.

Weight can be an issue as they are heavy for a pedal.

Cost; on sale some times at Performance for around $25-$35

Eric,

You can also try "campus pedals."  They're SPD on one side and platform on
the other.  I've never tried them myself, but they might be worth
considering if he'll be doing significant riding in his sneakers.

Like Doug, I have Frogs on my touring bike and I really do love them.
However, I've also jumped on the bike with regular shoes on and it isn't
a lot of fun riding since the Frogs area is small (about 1 3/4" by 1
1/2").  I wouldn't  recommend it on a regular basis.  For around the
block is okay, but not all the time.  Maybe if that's not an option for
him, how about toe straps?  That way he can wear sneakers.

what i meant was the opposite...     have you ever ridden the speedplays

while wearing regular tennis shoes?     being a teenager, he likes to 
jump on his bike at the spur of the moment, and he's usually wearing
some kind of running shoe or skateboard shoe.
