Ah, I can see it now, the battle of the mapping software!  Will Microsoft Streets and Trips prevail, or will newcomer National Geographic Backroads Explorer take the crown?  And what other "contenders" wait in the wings?  :-)

Would that be route 487 north from the town of Red Rock? From Topo USA it looks like the uphill stretch is well under two miles and I'm getting much less than 18% for the average grade.

Red Rock hill in Rickett's Glen is very challenging, 3 miles at 18%.
