Tom,

Don't believe anything Cliff says.  Hot water and cold water have the
exact same proportion of oxygen as hydrogen, if the H2O wasn't the same
it wouldn't be called water...

As Cliff Claven would have said "Its a little known fact Normie" warm
water 
freezes faster than cold water because the warm water has less oxygen 
content. At least that's what I learned in Chemistry class. The best way
to 
slow freezing is to add a little sodium (Gatorade) as this will lower
the 
freezing point of the water.
