[DVBC] Club Rides

New to the bike club, I decided to do a C+ ride one Sunday.  I had been doing a lot of riding on my own, and felt comfortable averaging about 14 mph.  I checked the Ride Classifications before making my decision and saw that a C+ ride was 12 - 13 mph.  Before leaving the parking lot, the ride leader gave his speech and told us that we would be averaging 16 - 17 mph!  I didn't know what to do, I'd driven 25 miles to do this ride and didn't want to go home.  So, I rode, my eyes glued to the wheel in front of me, peddling down hill to try to keep up.  I made it, but it was a tough 50 miles.  So, do we need to look at the classifications?  Just looking at them again this morning, I have to wonder.  Nancy
