New to the bike club, I decided to do a C+ ride one Sunday. I had been doing a lot of riding on my own, and felt comfortable averaging about 14 mph. I checked the Ride Classifications before making my decision and saw that a C+ ride was 12 - 13 mph. Before leaving the parking lot, the ride leader gave his speech and told us that we would be averaging 16 - 17 mph! I didn't know what to do, I'd driven 25 miles to do this ride and didn't want to go home. So, I rode, my eyes glued to the wheel in front of me, peddling down hill to try to keep up. I made it, but it was a tough 50 miles. So, do we need to look at the classifications? Just looking at them again this morning, I have to wonder. Nancy
