The Mt. Washington Summit is cold and windy. It is often so foggy that the
visibi ... oh, you said Washington DC Summit.

All of the topics you mentioned are great. It is my view that bikes should
never be allowed to be banned from any roadways unless a reasonable
alternate route exists. This is certainly not the case with the Delaware
River bridges. Banning (or even limiting) access to those bridges is, in my
opinion, a form of discrimination.

 Dear DVBC.

A delegation of cycling advocates from the Bicycle Coalition of Greater
Philadelphia will be going to Capitol Hill next Thursday in order to advise
and consult with all the Congressmen and Senators representing the tri-state
area. I expect our group will be 20 or 30 folks. We will be supporting an
agenda prepared for us by LAB. (I don't know what that will be yet.) In
addition to that we will certainly be bringing up specific local issues such
as bike access to the airport and combining ECG/Pa route E with that issue,
bikes on Amtrack, the future of public transit in our region (SEPTA),
Bridge access on the Ben Franklin, Scudder Falls, Comodore Barry, etc.

I am asking you all for any input, or concerns to add to our message to the
Federal Government.

So far, Dom Zuppo, myself, and possibly Steve Trobovic are the only ones I'm
aware of who are planning to go from our committee. (Delaware County
Cycling Committee) I made a courtesy call to Joe Sestak's office to inform
him of our visit and requested that if at all possible, we would like to
meet with him personally. I was told he definitely will be in Washington
next Thursday. He is definitely involved in the airport issue, and may be
able to give us more help with the DRPA. I have a lot of hope about working
with our freshman representative who has asked his constituants for their
input. Transportation is one of his big interests.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

David Bennett, Chairman DCCC
