Joe,
What do you mean, you need to find time! Make time and go get it!

Hi Drew,
I'm kind of tall and need a taller bike, (6'4", 36" inseam) but
that's pretty much the only special thing I need (other than bigger
lungs and stronger legs of course). The steel frame is 62 centimeters.
Outside that, it's got stuff you could find on most any road bike.
Regarding special handling characteristics/needs, I'm a novice
and really couldn't tell you.
That said, I just called them and it's finished! I just need to
find time to stop in and get it fitted, and take it home.
Turns out, they called me a couple weeks ago and left a message
about it being ready, but I never got the message. My wife's Mother's
Day gift just went down in value :)

Joe,
How far away is delivery and what are the handling
characteristics and fit requirements that you can't get off-the-shelf?
Circa 1978 I had a bike stolen, so I ordered an
expensive (for that time and income) replacement. When I learned
delivery was three months away, I purchased a fill-in bike that I
intended to sell when the big ticket arrived. I found that the fill-in
rode wonderfully and still have it on my trainer, whilst the big ticket
has long since moved on.

Thanks. I hear what you are saying, but it is
really frustrating that I'd have to even think about doing that. I
wonder if I should just ask to get my money back?

I suggest you call Harry everyday to ask
if the bike is ready yet. If you really want to be a stinker, tell him
you are coming to pick it up this Thurs. evening when they are having
the big wing ding at the shop.

It sounds like exactly what I'm hoping
for!
My wife wants to come too and she is
running the Broad Street Run Sunday, so I'm limited in how long I can
stay (to get her off her feet to rest before race day). I plan to go in
and spend quickly and get out (kind of like how I approach mall
shopping). I've been pricing things, so I'm ready to part with cash
if/when I find a bargain on my list.
Now, if only I had that road bike I paid
for a few weeks back... :)

The swap meet is absolutely astounding
on how much stuff is available and
what great buys you can find. I
recommend making a shopping list and
spending all day there. One note is that
it almost always rains for the
event.
