*Thanks Everybody...*

for helping to make this the best Brandywine Tour ever. We're not getting
older, we're getting steadily better.

*Telltale Signs*
At the war headquarters, er Pocopson, riders were lined up at 6:45 chomping
at the bit to enjoy the ideal weather for the 2007 rendition. At 7:10 one
rider came over to me and complained that the line wasn't moving. I told him
that's because it hadn't opened yet. Finally, Gina started taking money
at 7:15 and they were off like a shot. We can monitor parking earlier but
7:15 is the earliest I'm comfortable letting riders go, esp. when there is
any mist or foggy patches.

By the end of the day, the bunch of 433 riders was enthusiastic but
mellowed. The three massage therapy tables were continuously filled and had
a waiting line. While one rider climbed on, another wobbled off in delirium.
Massage was a big hit that we definitely want to provide again.

The music and chairs provided just the right atmosphere that Cheryl had been
working for: a relaxed, upbeat setting for socializing and swapping bike
stories. Riders appreciate the personal touch and for us it makes it feel
like an event instead of a job.

Best of all, I didn't hear of any serious mishaps. No bridge injuries or
trips to the hospital, despite some spills. Did they trip over the dotted
line?

*And finally, it's time for The Brandies -- this year's top award winners*

*The Van Gogh Award: *this coveted endowment for best painter goes to our
club photographer Edward Soboliewski for his arrows on the 27 mile route.
**
*The Best Slice Award* goes to Mike Broennle, not for his golf swing,
but for the new pizza and tomato pie vendor.
**
*Most Talented Sibling Award* goes to Bob LaDrew. His brother, Jim, and his
wife, Roz, performed on center stage dramatically improving the social
milieu. Many, many riders decided to hang out. Last impressions, too, are
lasting. Or should that award be the other way around? Your newsletter
editor writes, cartoons, and puts together videos. On so little notice I
didn't believe it was possible, Bob and Judy created the logo, then Bob
coordinated with a local silk screener to deliver this year's Volunteer
t-shirt -- another nice addition for '07.
**
*Best Looking Relative On The Tour *goes to Sag Captain Tony Rocha. His
daughter brightened every picture.

*The Bill Frist Terry Schiavo Award* goes to Bob Martin. Bob took a very
expensive tacoed wheel and began forcefully dropping it on the pavement. As
the wide-eyed rider looked on, Bob explained, "You know this wheel is
dead...but I may be able to briefly revitalize it."

Thanks again, Everyone. See you on the road.
