[DVBC] Question for Garmin GPS users from a GPS newbie

I am looking at buying a Garmin Legend HCS or a 76CXS. I am confused about
which mapping software to get.

There are 2 versions of City Navigator North America. The regular and the
NT. The NT says it has different compression so that it can be loaded to a
Garmin unit. If I am putting the maps on an SD card, which version should I
buy? If I get the NT version, will I be able to map routes on my computer
and transfer them to my GPS?  Do I need different software to use cue sheets
and routes that other people have saved?
