Just for the record it was the guy on the new Bianchi that led the way from Rose Tree to Ridley at a blistering pace!!

A slight correction; Don was the kind one: the pace line dropped me both on the way out to Westtown and on the way back from Westtown, and I decided to go up Gradyville (the new one, not the old one) instead of Sweetwater. Dom, kindly ex-president that he is and the ride leader, after all, decided to hang back with the slow one and accompany me on a slightly more leisurely pace back to Rose Tree... Thanks, Dom! On one of my first club rides years ago, Dom did the same thing, hung back with me as I struggled up Sweetwater on a Wednesday night. So I should say, Thanks again, Dom!

By 6 P.M. there was nary a C rider in sight, so the B team invited me to join them. It was all I could do to hang on, but what a blast!
Adam, Jack, Jim, Len D., Mike and I took the usual route from Rose Tree Park to RCSP. We regrouped at the stone bridge and made our way along the multi-use trail, and at Rt. 352 I looked at my clock. 5 miles in 20 minutes – no wonder my chest looked like a scene from Alien!
Then we headed west, and after another 20 minutes (!) we stopped at Westtown Friends School for a 3 minute break, as the setting sun convinced the group that time was of the essence.
On Creek Rd. I peeked at my cyclocomputer and it read 16.5 MPH average. That wouldn’t last, as the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Jack, Jim, Len, and Mike) dropped the hammer and took off for Sweetwater. Adam was kind (he had the blinky light) and followed me up Gradyville Road. We waited a few minutes near Forge for the rest of the gang but “natured called” and I had to try out the new porto-potty in the park. Little did I realize we were behind the B team.
Final stats – 24 miles, 1.37 hours, 14.85 MPH average (for me, that is). Thanks, guys!!
Dom
