Yes, the car stopped, police came, ambulance and paramedics came -- it was all very official and scary!

I'm sorry to hear about Len's injury. He's a good guy and I wish him a speedy recovery. Did the car that hit him stop?

The good news: 12 riders including myself (Len D., Dom and Jo Ann, Carlos, Jim I., triathletes Eva and Craig, Tom S., and three folks new to me: Eileen C., Danny S. and another Tom S.) set out from Rose Tree and made good time to Centreville, DE. The return pace was not quite as fast, especially not for me. Is it possible that the hills going back were THAT much harder, or is it because I was riding my old heavy steel Peugot touring bike and not my sleek Colnago (which is in the shop awaiting a new rear wheel)? The group kindly waited for me at the top of the hills (except for the second Tom S., who got ahead on Creek Road, missed our turn up Wylie, and was never seen again by us but I trust found his way back to Rose Tree). The bad news: At the top of the last hill, at the intersection of Sycamore Mills and Rose Tree, Len Davis's front wheel was bumped by a car. Len went down hard and fractured his hip. I spoke to Len this morning, just before he underwent surgery, and he said the doctor told him he'll have a rehab period of a few months but should make a full recovery. Len has been a mainstay of the early-season Wednesday night rides, challenging us all with his fast pace, and we'll look forward to his speedy recovery and return to the road.
