Hi All --

Another great ride last night! It was almost 60 degrees at 8 pm as Eric Z, Matt K, and I (Jon D) left from Swarthmore for a night tour of Media/Middletown/Wallingford. Really an ideal time to be out. Everyone was interested in learning a little more of the geography of our own towns and how different it looks (and feels) at night. Eric on a kool "kustard yellow" Kogswell, Matt on his Fuji Sagres commuter, and me on the trusty rigid Trek mtb. The microclimates near the creeks and streams and in the hollows is something you only experience in certain weather conditions. Last night the temperature differences were huge from just one patch of road to the next 100 yards down. The long hill down E. Rose Tree Rd is a perfect time to rest and enjoy the night air. Overall: 15 miles in a little over an hour, and a lot of fun.

For those that haven't gone out at night, don't let lighting stop you. CycleFit has a $30 light that is alright, and a $50 light that is quite good. (They also have daylight-creating illumination systems that are over $200, but I think those might be more for people riding in the woods.)

If there are other warm, dry weeknights, expect me to do a night ride. Drop me a line if you feel like coming. I'll post something if I know I'm going out more than a few hours in advance.
