When I moved to Pennsylvania and went to get my driver's license, I was
surprised and pleased to see the "Pennsylvania Bicycle Driver's Manual"
prominently displayed with the other driver's manuals in the DMV office/ The
manual combines the PA bicycle laws along with a condensed version of John
Allen's "Street Smarts" book, a book based on the League of American
Bicyclist's bike education program. I give a copy of the manual to all the
students in my Street Skills for Cyclist's class. You can see an online

Don't think CA has an equivalent, but maybe it's something to be considered.
