  Hi to new friends, I've been reading the list and not gone on any group
rides yet.

  I'm hoping I might ask for some advice from the wise and experienced !

  I started cycling this spring and have a Cannondale 400, and Santa gave me
a CycleOps trainer for Christmas.

  I've finally figured out how to build it and switch to the trainer's
skewer, but now I'm not able to mount it. The heights don't seem to line up
and the skewer's width doesn't seem to match the trainer even with the
trainer's QR knob in the tight position.

  Attached are some pictures, and I wonder whether I've assembled things
wrong or just don't know what to do next.
