By the way I do owe you an apology.
I should not have accused you of being czar-ish.

I checked the definition:
czar      /z?r, ts?r/  ?noun

Your recommendations on how to use the list-serve were polite and 
suggestive rather than the exercise of great authority or power. My bad.
Characterizing it as Miss Manners like would have been a better choice.
