Sorry, Drew, I addressed it to the listserve because I thought everyone
needed the answer to my questions.
You've answered my questions, but...how do I email paper signup sheets?

Hey Ira,
Did you send your question to me directly? I don't read all of the
messages on the listserve. In any case, for everyone, send your signup
sheets to our Ride Coordinator, Clarence at tcupshoch at comcast.net, to
participate in the Ride Leader Program.
The Ride Leader Program does replace the gift certificates
traditionally handed out to the top ten ride leaders at the banquet.
There are several reasons we are making a bigger commitment to promote
more ride leader participation --and thanks for asking.
First, we want clearer incentives. The incentive now is a special ride
leader jersey, which we feel is a way of investing in our club because
listed rides are the heart and soul of any bicycle club. We need more
ride leaders and more rides listed across the range of levels.
Second, we want clearer guidelines on what qualifies for the
incentive. With the unofficial top ten, ride leaders wouldn't know
during the year how close they were to qualifying. We don't want folks
to make a big effort, then be disappointed or fall just short.
Third, we want a program that is broader and more inclusive so anyone
can qualify. Previously, the deck was stacked in favor of leaders with
recurring rides. We need those folks to continue participating but we
also need more weekend ride leaders.
And finally, we want to encourage and reward general participation,
especially at our tours. Which reminds me, it's not too late to earn
points by volunteering for Bonkers. Write Deb Chaga if you can assist.
And yes, baking goodies for the tours is most certainly participating
and appreciated.
I'll reiterate this message in the next club newsletter. I also want
to mention again that we are formalizing some guidelines and offering
mentoring to help new ride leaders be more comfortable with leading
rides. Call or write me directly if you want more info.

Drew,
After reading about the new program in the NL, I realized that my
previous inquiry on the listserve was never answered, how does one go
about turning in ride signup sheets?
It also raised some other questions.
Does this new incentive program mean you are doing away with the
gift certificates that you always gave out at the banquet to the 10 ride
leaders with the most rides?
And if so, what was wrong with that idea? If not, why isn't it being
promoted so as to encourage more rides?
Ira
