[DVBC] Bottled Water

Ira,
I assume you have a well? If not there should not be a difference in winter
water vs summer water. Anybody that has a well should be very careful and
have it tested often to guarantee there is no ground contamination leaking
into their water supply, and tested by a reputable company, not somebody
trying to sell you a water filter system.

Thanks Doug
And although the point of the article was about labelling and the
difference in standards between bottled water and municipal water it
confirmed my belief right there in the 3rd paragraph that tap water should
be filtered.
I have been having my water tested for 20 years by Aqua as a test subject
and the reports show the presence of many contaminants that are known to
be toxic. Of course they are always present in quantities deemed to be
safe, but we all know about saccharin, red dye #4, monosodium glutamate
and other substances that were deemed safe at one time and were commonly
used until they were proven unsafe. I can often smell chlorine when I turn
on the faucett at my house and it gets worse in the winter when a lot of
salt is being used on icy roads and makes its way into the water. I think
that causes them to increase the levels of chlorine being used.
So why take a chance? A good home filtration system is easy, cheap and can
make good tasting safe drinking water that you can use to refill water
bottles to take on rides and trips as well as at home.
Even though #1 and #2 plastic that most disposable water bottles are made
of are readily recyclable, they are causing huge pollution problems around
the world and should be avoided whenever possible.
